A 29-year-old man from Brantford is facing multiple charges, including one for producing counterfeit currency.
According to police, the man was arrested on May 3 after officers responded to a call about an unconscious person found in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle on Darling Street. Upon locating the vehicle, police discovered the man was under multiple driving suspensions and prohibitions and was unable to provide valid proof of insurance.
During a search, officers reportedly found a large quantity of counterfeit money in the suspect’s possession.
The following day, on May 4, members of the Brantford Police Service’s drug and firearm enforcement unit, general investigations unit, and uniform officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Marlborough Street. Inside, police recovered multiple items believed to be used in the production of counterfeit currency, including printers, holographic paper, a heat press, a bundle of fake bills, and various electronic devices.
The man now faces several charges, including possession of counterfeit money, possession of instruments for counterfeiting, and producing counterfeit money. He has also been charged with driving-related offences and violating a probation order.
