Liberal Leader Mark Carney Rallies Support in Brantford with Bold Housing and Energy Promises

Liberal leader Mark Carney made a campaign stop in Brantford on Friday, promising to tackle Canada’s housing crisis and invest in a clean energy future.

Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd at Sassy Britches Brewing Co. on Sherwood Drive, Carney pledged that a Liberal government would build millions of homes, aiming to make them 20 to 30 per cent more affordable than current prices.

“If you put your trust in us, we’re going to build this country like it’s never been built before,” Carney declared.

Addressing young people specifically, he emphasized that the plan goes beyond construction. “We’re not just going to build those homes—we’re going to build a new industry that uses Canadian lumber, Canadian technology, and keeps jobs here in Canada,” he said.

Carney also outlined a bold vision for Canada’s energy future, vowing to create a “new energy superpower” driven by clean and renewable sources.

The Brantford stop was part of a regional push to support local Liberal candidates, including Joy O’Donnell (Brantford–Brant South–Six Nations), Colin Walsh (Haldimand–Norfolk), and David Hilderley (Oxford).

While exact attendance figures weren’t confirmed, organizers said over 900 people registered for the event, and many in the crowd estimated more than 1,000 were in attendance—making it the largest local Liberal rally since Justin Trudeau’s 2019 visit to Mercasa Little Italy Eatery.

Just like that 2019 event, the crowd was energetic, excited, and eager to snap photos with the party’s new leader—reflecting growing momentum ahead of the upcoming election.
